Phoenix sponsored research wins 2014 Samuel Arnold Greeley Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI). The Samuel Arnold Greeley Award recognizes the outstanding private practice paper in the area of: “design, construction, operation, or financing of water supply pollution control, storm drainage, or refuse disposal projects.”
The award winning paper was the "Aging Effects in Field-Compacted Dredged Material-Steel Slag Fines Blends," which appeared in the April 2013 issue of the ASCE Journal of Hazardous, Toxic, and Radioactive Waste, April 2013, which was the last in a series of technical papers addressing the potential use of dredged material blended with steel slag fines from the Sparrows Point steel mill complex in Baltimore as a commercial geotechnical fill for the Maryland Ports Administration.
Safety first since 2006 when Phoenix was formed. Congratulations to the Phoenix Latrobe, Riverdale and Wilton site teams for completing 8 years of operations without any injuries. Other important safety milestones were passed as we entered 2016. Six years without injuries at the Cool Springs and Johnstown locations; and 5 years without injuries at Wierton and three French operations (Strasburg, and LML & SEPI Dunkerque). Hat’s off to the Health and Safety team and each site employee for these achievements.
Phoenix has been awarded a long-term contract at the newest integrated steel mill in the Americas. We are currently breaking ground at this greenfield site and will be operational in the March 2016 timeframe. When Phoenix says it will provide world class service and new equipment at your facility, we stand by our promise.
